Spruce Meadows, Banff & Cowboy Boots
Our Canada Trip in 5 Days 🇨🇦

Some trips feel unreal from the moment they start and this was definitely one of them.

From a world-famous horse show to mountain lakes that looked photoshopped, our trip to Canada had everything. And honestly? I still can’t believe we managed to do all of this in just a few days.

Amsterdam → Toronto

Our journey started with a flight from Amsterdam to Toronto. After arriving, we spent the first day exploring the city, walking around downtown and slowly adjusting to the idea that we were actually in Canada.

The next morning we woke up early and drove to Niagara Falls. Even though it’s one of the most touristy places in Canada, seeing it in real life is still incredibly impressive. The size, the sound, the power of the water… definitely worth seeing at least once.

Flying to Calgary

At the end of the day we headed back to the airport for our next flight: Toronto to Calgary.

We landed around 11 PM and immediately drove to Canmore, where we stayed near Banff National Park. After a long travel day we were exhausted, but at the same time very excited for what was coming next.

Banff National Park

Jet lag actually worked in our favor. We woke up super early the next morning and spent the entire day driving through Banff National Park.

And honestly… I understand now why everyone talks about this place.

The lakes were unreal. Bright turquoise water, mountains everywhere, endless views and nature that almost doesn’t feel real anymore. We stopped at so many beautiful places throughout the day and just kept saying: “This can’t actually look like this in real life.”

One of my favorite things about Banff is that every lake and viewpoint feels completely different. You drive for twenty minutes and suddenly you’re in another incredible landscape again.

After a full day exploring, we went out for dinner in the evening and tried to take everything in before the next part of the trip started.

Spruce Meadows

The next morning we drove back to Calgary early because it was finally time for the reason we originally booked this trip: Spruce Meadows.

If you’re involved in the horse world, you probably know this event already. And if not: Spruce Meadows is often called one of the most beautiful horse shows in the world.

And honestly? It completely lived up to the hype.

The atmosphere, the organization, the grounds, the level of sport… everything felt incredibly professional while still keeping that relaxed North American atmosphere. It’s one of those events where you constantly look around thinking: “Wow, this is really special.”

Cowboy Boots & Dance Halls

As if the trip couldn’t become any more Canadian, we ended the evening at a cowboy dance hall with some people we knew.

Everyone was wearing cowboy boots and somehow the entire room knew exactly the same dances. It honestly felt like walking into a movie scene. Such a fun experience and the perfect ending to the trip.

Back Home

The next morning it was already time to head back home. We flew from Calgary to Amsterdam with a stopover in Montreal and spent most of the flight trying to process everything we had seen in only a few days.

And maybe the craziest part?
The flights for this entire trip were only around €650 in total.

Definitely one of the coolest trips I’ve done so far.
